Heidi Klum may be the undisputed Queen of Halloween, but even the costume veteran gets a little apprehensive about unveiling her latest disguise. Ahead of her iconic Halloween bash, the supermodel admitted that she gets nervous right before her big reveal as there’s “no real trial” to see how it all comes together.
“I always get anxious,” Klum told People at a restaurant opening on Tuesday, October 29, in New York City. While the seasoned costumer has a parade of successful transformations under her belt, she explained that the getting ready process was still a bit of trial and error.
“Because there is no real trial,” she continued. “Like, I can’t do a real fitting before I am in it. Because I never know if it works until the day [of]. And then you know, and then something happens and I’m like, ‘Oh god.’” Case in point: When she and ex-husband Seal, whom she was married to from 2005 to 2014, decided to dress up as a serpent-covered apple and Eve.

The Victoria’s Secret model, who was nine months pregnant at the time, said she chose the fruit costume to protect her baby bump.
“So, I was thinking about being this big apple, but then we forgot how am I gonna get to the party?” she said. “Look, I couldn’t fit in anything, so I couldn’t get through any normal car doors.” Klum added that they eventually solved the problem by getting a convertible so she could get to the party in her oversized look.

Klum has been busy teasing her 2024 Halloween costume ahead of its unveiling at her annual party on October 31. Per her Instagram and TikTok posts, the former television host hinted that she might be sporting prosthetics, glass eyeballs, and metal claws à la Edward Scissorhands.
Fans will have to wait until Thursday to see if Klum one-ups last year’s peacock disguise—and if there are any mishaps while bringing her latest look to life.
