Now, instead of lighting my candles and having an open flame in my tiny Brooklyn apartment, I just twist a dial and turn it higher or lower to choose the intensity level I want. The lamp still offers the soft glow I love, but now I don’t have to worry about accidentally setting my curtains on fire.
Instead, the heat from the lamp works to melt the top layer of the wax into a liquid, so the delicious scent still throws without the need for any open flames. This makes a candle warmer especially practical for those with pets or small children.
But, perhaps, best of all, it also means that the candle doesn’t truly burn down. While a little bit of wax is lost each time it is heated, I’ve found that most of it just rehardens once I turn it off. And there’s no tunneling when it rehardens either, since the warmer ensures that the entire top layer liquifies evenly. This has allowed my favorite luxury candles to last and last, saving me money and helping me justify purchasing pricier candles (#girlmath, right?). In fact, as I’m writing this, I haven’t needed to purchase any new candles since last year, and I’m still only about a quarter of the way through most of them.
In fact, I ended up loving my candle warmer so much that I went back for a second one to put in my office and guest room, this time opting for a slightly different look and one with button settings instead of a dial. I love that one just as much.
